BackgroundLiverpool, a retail giant in Mexico, wanted to launch a new website for its customers that had a faster time to market while maintaining optimum performance. For this project to be successful, continuous testing of the systems was essential. There were several teams working on the complex application environment, including mainframe systems and web services, with multiple modules being built at the same time. Meeting testing deadlines was critical. Certain systems were not available all the time which meant that they could result in delays to the testing. Due to these major testing bottlenecks, Liverpool were unable to deliver rapid changes to the website. |
Summary
- 75% increased number of releases per month
- 45% reduction in defects related to environmental dependencies
- 25% reduction in failed payments on the production website
Delivering for the Client
The solution
Liverpool used service virtualization to test against complex systems that were not available, which removed testing bottlenecks and allowed critical testing deadlines to be met. Sandhata’s expertise and understanding of the underlying technology meant that they could work with the client to virtualize the services from the mainframe systems and other web applications, to remove dependencies.
This allowed them to:
- Enable constant and accurate continuous testing of business functionality
- Circumvent the intermittent availability of key systems
The result
With the help of Sandhata’s experienced and skilled engagement, the client was able to overcome testing bottlenecks and environmental dependencies. This helped to dramatically speed the launch of its new retail website. Their new website provides better interaction, faster payments and a higher quality of service for customers.
The time-to-market for future changes to the website is now significantly reduced. This has ensured an ongoing return on investment and has increased the client’s ability to stay ahead of the competition.
This project was achieved through the collaboration of Sandhata’s service virtualization experts and the retailer’s project team. Sandhata helped ensure the project was delivered on time and to specification.
